Welcome
As I found myself missing a connection to my mom, who could have so easily lived off the land and whose survivalist knowledge was more a part of me than I realized until she was no longer here to ask about nature and its healing and wondrous qualities, I began my studies of herbalism.
The book, Como Agua Para Chocolate (Like Water for Chocolate) by Laura Esquivel, is rich in magical realism and speaks throughout to the power of energy, food through which one may experience every emotion in life. It expresses the way I feel about kitchen magic and continues to represent this for me, in writing, to this day. Herbalism is, to me, an extension of the same.
Herbalism is a connection to my dearly departed mother, who taught me to cook from the heart and to love life and all that lives. To know plants is to know her. To know the uses for herbs is to honor her. To find health, wellness, and tranquility in the herbs I know, love, use, and cultivate is to honor so much of what she has handed down.
